Mark Kronfeld leads Nardello & Co.’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring, & Special Situations practice. With decades of multi-disciplinary experience, Mark handles complex matters across the full spectrum of corporate distress and special situations. He also has significant experience in high-stakes litigation and negotiations, investigations, investor activism, corporate governance, and fiduciary practice.

At Nardello & Co., Mark focuses on providing trustee and fiduciary services – including acting as an independent director, litigation trustee, liquidating trustee, receiver, examiner, or on special committees – as well as providing restructuring advisory services, litigation support and investigative services.

Whether as an advisor or as a fiduciary, he is a go-to choice for clients facing the most challenging and complex situations.

With extensive experience in restructuring, workouts, and bankruptcy, as well as distressed and special situations investing across the capital structure in a range of industries and regions, he has served numerous ad hoc and official creditor committees – typically in a leadership capacity – in corporate, municipal, and sovereign restructurings across the world and has played a key role in some of the most complex and successful distressed investments and restructuring matters in recent years. He has also been involved in numerous activist situations and has successfully led many litigation/liquidating trusts.

Prior to joining Nardello & Co., Mark was the Global Head of Restructuring at BlackRock, where he served on the firm’s Global Credit Oversight Committee and was responsible for workouts and restructurings across the global credit platform. He also served as portfolio manager for special situations funds and credit strategies within BlackRock’s Private Credit Group. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for billions of dollars in distressed, special situations, and has led numerous official and ad hoc committees in corporate, municipal, and sovereign restructurings across North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

Before his career in finance, Mark was an accomplished litigator and bankruptcy lawyer. As a bankruptcy lawyer, he represented debtors, creditors, trustees, and boards in restructurings and Chapter 11 cases. As a litigator, he handled commercial litigation in state and federal court. Mark also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, where he was a member of the Investigations Division. Mark tried numerous cases to verdict, achieving a 100% jury trial conviction rate.

Mark is a highly regarded expert and frequent lecturer, panelist, published author, and thought leader on topics such as corporate governance, bankruptcy law, restructuring, distressed investing, business litigation, and credit markets. He is a professor at NYU Stern, where he teaches Bankruptcy & Reorganization and a lecturer at Columbia, where he teaches Distressed Value Investing.
