Nardello & Co. Managing Director Chris Urben frequently provides expert testimony to the U.S. Congress on the role that Chinese organized crime plays in laundering drug proceeds in the United States and around the world. Please find some of his recent testimony experience below:
- On September 18, 2025, Chris testified before the United States House Committee on Homeland Security about the growth of Chinese organized crime in the United States and the threat that these groups pose. Chris was joined by Donnie Anderson of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Paul Larkin of The Heritage Foundation.
- On July 23, 2025, Chris testified before the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations as an expert on Transnational Criminal Organizations (“TCOs”). During his testimony, Chris explained how Mexican cartels and other TCOs have been affected by, and are responding to, recent U.S. enforcement trends. Chris also described how Nardello & Co. is advising clients on how to mitigate threats posed by TCOs and risks of U.S. enforcement actions.
- On March 20, 2024, Chris testified at a U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs’ Emerging Threats and Spending Oversight Subcommittee hearing on how to stop the flow of fentanyl and the precursor chemicals used to make fentanyl into the United States.
- On January 11, 2024, Chris testified at the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs’ hearing Stopping the Flow of Fentanyl: Public Awareness and Legislative Solutions. Chris was joined by Mr. Jason “Jelly Roll” DeFord, Artist and Philanthropist, and Mr. Patrick Yoes, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police.
- On June 7, 2023, Chris provided expert testimony to the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security’s Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence concerning threats posed by transnational criminal organizations’ involvement in fentanyl trafficking and money laundering. He also testified about efforts government and private sector actors are taking and should take to combat those threats.
- On April 26, 2023, Chris provided expert testimony to the U.S. Congress at the Rayburn House Office Building on the role that Chinese organized crime plays in laundering drug proceeds in the United States and around the world. Chris was joined by Senior Director and Senior Fellow of Foundation for Defense of Democracies, Mr. Anthony Ruggiero and by Minority Witness Channing Mavrellis, Illicit Trade Director of Global Financial Integrity.
