A former federal prosecutor, Managing Director Wendy T. Wu is head of Nardello & Co.’s Digital Investigations and Cyber Risk practice.

Wendy is a recognized national expert and leads engagements in cybercrime and data breach response, digital forensics, information security, and intellectual property protection. She has more than 20 years of experience in advising clients in high stakes technical and litigation matters, guiding senior executives in navigating and balancing cyber risks with business strategy, and leading domestic and international teams in incident response and digital forensic investigations.

Prior to joining Nardello & Co., Wendy led the cyber and investigations practices for a UK investigation and due diligence consultancy. She advised US clients on cyber risk and legal and compliance matters.

As regional leader of an international cyber risk management firm and later as co-founder of a Los Angeles investigations firm, she advised clients on data breach and cybercrime response, information security, digital forensics, and intellectual property protection.

In the eight years during which she served as an Assistant US Attorney in the Central District of California, Wendy led investigations and prosecutions of computer intrusions, extortionate denial of service attacks, computer and internet fraud, criminal copyright infringement, theft of trade secrets, cyber exploitation of victims, financial fraud, and identity theft. She also prosecuted major drug trafficking, money laundering, and gang-related offenses.

Wendy began her career as a litigation associate at Proskauer Rose LLP, where she focused on white-collar criminal defense matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, securities, bank, and accounting fraud, tax offenses, and money laundering.

Among her notable cases, Wendy was lead counsel in the first criminal trial involving violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and supervised an international investigation involving nation-state-sponsored computer attacks against healthcare companies.  She prosecuted the operator of a “revenge porn” website, who is the subject of the Netflix documentary “The Most Hated Man on the Internet.”
