When its senior executives were criminally indicted for operating a multi-year, multimillion dollar ‘phantom’ billing/kickback scheme, an industrial equipment manufacturer turned to Nardello & Co. for help. Our investigative team performed a forensic accounting review of the company’s sales, which included reconstructing ten years of order and billing data from both electronic and physical records to reconcile invoiced sales figures with upstream vendor purchasing and delivery logistics data. Additionally, the team undertook data analytics to create visualizations used in legal proceedings and plea bargain negotiations with prosecutors. Our analysis played a central role in the client securing a settlement agreement with a substantially reduced penalty.
