Providing risk advisory services to combat a multi-actor harassment campaign that escalated to death threats
A prominent institution targeted by a virulent multi-actor harassment campaign – which escalated to include the interruption of physical operations and death threats against employees – engaged Nardello & Co. to provide numerous risk advisory services throughout a multi-month engagement. Our analysts monitored social media, messaging platforms, extremist websites, and deep and dark web locations for threat activity naming the client and conducted attribution research into anonymous posters to help assess the threat they might pose. Our research teams conducted public record investigations into posters who had evidenced intent to engage in real-world activity targeting the client. We contacted the operators of social media platforms to support efforts to remove content that violated that platform’s terms of service and drafted presentations for law enforcement entities. Our cyber specialists conducted online privacy screens for impacted employees. In support of the client’s litigation strategy, Nardello & Co. assessed hundreds of potential threat actors and tracked evolving security concerns and false narratives related to the client across mainstream and alternative platforms. Working directly with the client’s senior leadership and external counsel, Nardello & Co. provided briefings to government agencies in support of their response, which included arrests of threat actors who targeted the client.
